Orthotics
Orthotics are custom-made devices designed to support, align, and improve the function of the feet, ankles, or legs. These devices are often used to correct imbalances, reduce pain, and enhance overall mobility by providing additional support to the musculoskeletal system.
Types of Orthotics
-
Foot Orthotics: Typically inserted into shoes to provide arch support, cushion the heel, and distribute weight evenly.
-
Ankle-Foot Orthotics (AFOs): Braces that provide stability and support for those with weak ankles or lower leg issues.
-
Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthotics (KAFOs): Extend up the leg to support the knee and ankle simultaneously.
Benefits of Orthotics
-
Pain Relief: Alleviates discomfort in the feet, legs, and lower back by correcting abnormal foot positioning and gait.
-
Improved Posture and Alignment: Promotes better body alignment, which can reduce strain on the spine and joints.
-
Enhanced Mobility: Supports the foot structure, allowing for smoother movement and reduced fatigue during walking or standing.
Following assessment, if required, I supply over the counter Orthotics for adults and children.
